Lesson Planning Guide: The Parable of the Prodigal Son can be a difficult concept for children to grasp because sometimes we relate to the Prodigal Son, but sometimes we relate to the "good" son and feel slighted and underappreciated by the father. The lesson covers the perspective of both children, plus a third lesson about a personal relationship with God. The Prodigal Son Lesson Guide coupled with coloring pages that relate to each of children's perspectives and a variety of games/puzzles make for a perfect Prodigal Son Parable Sunday School lesson. Use it time and time again and modify based on the age of the children.

Reflection/Journal Pages. Each of the three journaling/reflection pages covers one aspect of the lesson. The writing prompts are simple enough for relatively young children (6-7), but thought-provoking for any age. Use a separate piece of paper for older children to write longer reflections. Kid-friendly designs. Cost-effective for printing.

Coloring Pages for all ages. Coloring pages are included for young, middle, and older children. One coloring page for youngest children. For other children, two coloring pages are included. One is from the prodigal child’s perspective:  God’s arms are open for me. The other is from the perspective of the “good” child: God is everything I need.

Puzzle Pages. Puzzle pages include a maze for each of the three age groups, Middle and older children each have cryptogram and word search. One word scramble covers both age groups.

Wall Art Printable. A file sized for printing on 8.5”x11” paper gives a reminder that God is always ready to welcome us home. Wall print saying is: My child was lost but now is found.
